Faulkner & King, PSC was formed in 1984 by Harvey K. Faulkner and Joseph C. King. Prior to 1984, this office was a satellite office of Potter & Company, a regional accounting firm based in Lexington, Kentucky.  The Mt. Sterling office opened in the 1960's and continued in business there until its conversion into Faulkner & King in 1984. Today the firm (now known as Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC) has a total staff of 14, including 11 accounting professionals, seven of whom are CPA's.  Our firm is a member of the Kentucky Society of CPAs and the American Institute of CPAs, including the AICPA's Audit Quality Centers for Employee Benefit Plans and Governmental Audits.  Requirements of such membership include an average of more than 40 hours continuing professional education per year for each professional employee, along with a "peer review" by an independent outside firm every three years. Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC has successfully completed all of its peer reviews since the inception of the Peer Review Program in 1990, receiving unqualified opinions. This office also provides peer review services to other accounting firms, having performed over 350 peer reviews of other accounting firms since 1990. Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC currently serves approximately 1,300 clients, primarily in central and eastern Kentucky, Included in this total are approximately 350 corporate, partnership and other business clients. The firm performs approximately 25 annual financial statement audits, as well as compilation or review financial statement services annually for numerous other business clients. The firm serves a wide variety of industries including banking and other financial institutions, employee benefit plans, construction, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, professional services, governmental units, not-for-profit organizations, and other types of businesses. Faulkner, King & Wenz, PSC also provides consulting and income tax preparation and planning services to individuals, partnerships, corporations, fiduciaries and other business entitles.
